Music has always played a very important part in the life of Slieverue National School, from the time when Mrs. Morrissey former teacher introduced generations of Slieverue children to Stage and Music in the 1960's - this continues right up to present day. All our pupils are given as many opportunities as possible to develop an interest and to enjoy music. From the 1980's to the 1990's , all senior classes took part in the National Childrens Choir in the National Concert Hall in Dublin and visited the Symphony Orchestra in WIT a number of times.

It was always school policy that each child be given the opportunity to appear at least once on the stage of the Theatre Royal in Waterford in Feile na Scoileanna. This was an annual non-competitive festival of children performing on stage.

Our staff members continue to instill a love of music through singing and playing the tin whistle.

At presentl children who have a special interest in singing are encouraged to join the school choir which takes place after school each Monday. This choir is part of the Hallelujah Choir and entertains the patients in St. Patrick's Hospital Waterford at Christmas. We have been travelling to Dublin over the past number of years to be part of the 9000 strong Hallelujah choir in the RDS and The Point.

We are very proud of our past pupils who have continued on with their music either in teaching or performing.

Our visiting musis teachers include
Mrs Mary O Connor and Niall O Connor (Piano,Trumpet and Tin Whistle) , Mr Mark Robinson( Guitar) and
Mrs. Betty Threadgold ( Irish Dancing
)
